Shop Local, Eat Local
Welcome to Black Friday 2020... Another edition of unchecked consumerism! We're not against shopping, for obvious reasons, but if 2020 has taught us anything it's that we should re-evaluate the way we do things. This pandemic has hit many people, brands, shops and small businesses hard. Here in Montreal the restaurant industry has been particularly affected, especially following the second recent shutdown.
One of the things we enjoy the most when we were able to travel is discovering a city's essence through its culinary offerings. Letting a chef tell a story through their food is one of the most exciting things you can do. Montreal is no different. In fact, we would argue that we have one of the best restaurant scenes out there. The last thing we want to see happen is to lose the soul of our beautiful city because of COVID-related restrictions putting small shops and restaurants out of business. We've already seen far too many permanent restaurant closures, even some of our long standing institutions, and we don't want to see any more. This is why this Black Friday is about showing support to some of our favourite local spots. We want to use this Black Friday to give a little something back to the industry that has given us so much.
